Helen Woodward’s Alumni Event Has Orphan and Adopted Pets Getting Glitzy

Calling all hairy legs to the dance floor!  Helen Woodward Animal Center invites canine alumni to the Fourth Annual Puppy Prom!  The tail-wagging event unites Helen Woodward adopters and adoptees around the punch bowl and out on the dance floor.   Junior and senior pooches are welcome to participate in such time-honored activities as the crowning of a “Prom King and Queen,” doggie dancing, raffle prizes and picture-perfect prom photos.  Grab your favorite fuzzy love and rub hairy shoulders with other alumni at the Fourth Annual Puppy Prom Saturday, May 7th from 12 noon to 1:30 pm at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe.

The Prom-themed party is FREE to all Helen Woodward Animal Center Alumni, as well as other rescue-supporting guests. Junior and Senior pooches can participate in such time-honored activities as the crowning of a Best Dressed “Prom King and Queen” ($10 per entry), snapping picture-perfect photos against a variety of classic prom backdrops, snacking on cookies and punch for pups and people,  and corsage and boutonniere-making for the kids. Opportunity drawing tickets will be available with a chance to win great prizes. (Proceeds from all activities support the orphan animals at Helen Woodward Animal Center.)  A group alumni photo of all guests will be taken for display on the Center website to honor our beloved extended family of puppies and people.

In previous years, Helen Woodward Animal Center’s prom-themed “paw-ty” has united former orphans and their families from “graduating classes” as far back as 2004.  Decked out in adorable doggy dresses, tuxes, boutonnieres and painted paw-nails, the rescued pups returned to their old barking grounds to show off their forever families and reunite with former Center “classmates.”

Adoption Services Manager Amy Barnes stated, “It just thrills us to see so many happy families that we helped bring together come celebrate pet adoption. Seeing how much some have grown and how happy they are with their families is what it’s all about!”
