Hi, I'm Rick Lawrence, and God knows how I've been able to spend my entire 30 plus year radio career, in my beloved hometown of San Diego! I'm a 3rd generation San Diegan who spent his youth growing up along the water of Point Loma and Ocean Beach. I graduated from Point Loma High School, then attended Mesa Community College and SDSU, switching majors between art, music, theater, and communications, not wanting to pick just one. Then one day in 1984, while listening to my favorite rock radio station, I had an epiphany, and everything changed. Within a year, I was working on the air at 101.5 KGB FM, then Y-95 and MIX 94.9. In 1990, I had been listening to a new station in the North County that rocked a little heavier, than most, called ROCK 102.1. My sights were set! Since then, I went on to be the, quintessential “Rock Jock” for that station and through its transformation to ROCK 105.3, spending 20 years banging my head with my local hairfarmers. The radio bug bit me hard, though, and I continued to work as well, reporting traffic, news and weather for numerous radio stations in town, receiving a SPJ Award for my airborne coverage of the Alpine fire for KOGO AM 600. My knowledge and love of San Diego is as deep as my knowledge and love of Rock n' Roll. I hit the jack pot, though, when I was hired at 100.7 KFM BFM, which played all the music and hits I love the most, with a staff and iconic history that is so imbedded in San Diego. Local boy + Rock n'Roll + Hometown = Awesome Local Radio!!!
