Big Little Lies' Perfect Dismount

WARNING: Spoilers ahead. Don't read if you haven't seen any of the show's episodes, especially the finale!!

In a season of mid-season premieres and finales, HBO's "Big Little Lies" captured a great story intertwined with drama, mystery, hysteria, friction, tumult, and, best of all, one of the best twists in recent years on television.

The story is about three women living in Monterey, California. It's a very fancy area in the Golden State.

It follows Madeline (Reese Witherspoon), whose first husband Nathan is married to a holistic vegan yoga instructor Bonnie (Zoe Kravitz - yes, Lenny and Lisa Bonet's daughter). Madeline and Nathan's daughter Abigail moved out of the house midway through the series where Madeline and Ed McKenzie (Adam) live. Madeline and Ed have a young daughter, Chloe.

Celeste (Nicole Kidman) is a retired lawyer and her husband Perry (Alexander Skarsgard) is a salesman, of sorts, I think. They have twin boys, Max and Josh. Celeste and Perry are in an extremely violent and domestically abusive relationship. You'll understand more about it when you watch the show. I don't want to give it all away so soon.

Jane (Shailene Woodley) is a single mom with a young boy, Ziggy, who just moves to Monterey for a fresh start and better schooling for her son. She has a deep dark secret where she was raped on a first date and Ziggy was the result of that incident.

Additionally, a big-shot CEO and mother herself, Renata (Laura Dern), comes into the picture as a woman who think she runs the town because of her and her husband's financial well-being.

I know, this feels like a "six-degrees-of-separation" panic attack in full force, but I promise it gets good.

So, all the kids go to school together, which brings the mothers together for functions... Well, Renata's daughter suffers some physical wounds from one of the boys. The town seems to think it's one boy and it goes on all series.

SERIOUS SPOILER ALERT!! Turn back now!

In Sunday night's finale, there's a fundraiser with an Audrey & Elvis theme for the parents. Madeline is overcome with emotion over how well Ed sang at the function, and it makes her so upset that her affair with the local community theater director all that much more shameful.

Jane consoles Madeline. Renata comes to apologize to Jane for how she treated her, as well as her son Ziggy. They make amends and Madeline understands how big a person Renata is for apologizing as such.

Celeste somehow escapes Perry's grasp and forces her way to find the girls and Perry finds Celeste near a stairwell outside the fundraiser. He pleads with her to come away with him and he will seek help.

Then, the biggest twist of the whole series. You find out that it was Perry that raped Jane! Holy freaking cow!! I was sitting on the floor and I jumped out of my seat!!

Perry wrestles with Celeste and takes his anger out on all the women involved and then he ends up falling down the stairwell to his death!!

Was it an accident? Was it intentional? Go sign up for HBO NOW or talk to your friends about watching HBO GO and watch these 7 episodes!! It's quite the thrill and you won't be disappointed!!
