Bates Motel's Unconventional Direction

Posted: Updated:

If you haven't seen the show yet, you can catch up on Netflix with the first four seasons, and then the new season should be available on the A&E network app.

WARNING: There are spoilers including Monday, April 3rd’s, episode!!

One would imagine that if you’re a fan of the iconic movie ”Psycho,” directed by Alfred Hitchcock, you would have a craving to try out A&E’s show “Bates Motel.” It’s a prequel to the blockbuster horror film and shows you how Norman Bates became as demented as he is.

This show is in its fifth and final season, with a handful of episodes remaining. It’s amazing and incredibly suspenseful. Just last week, we saw Norman carry out the scene everyone knows: the scene where Marion Crane is stabbed multiple times in the shower.

Well, call me crazy, but I loved that they killed her boyfriend instead, that being Sam Loomis. There’s a whole bunch of other twists and turns along the way in this series. However, this final season wraps up in the hotel and the Bates household.

It was thrilling to see the show creators and writers go in that direction, but how are they going to kill Marion, if at all? Does she pose a threat to this version of Norman? What the hell happened in the most recent episode??

I mean, Dylan comes back to try and take care of Norman. Norman tries to get rid of the Norma side of his alter egos, and ends up whacking Dylan upside the head with a drinking glass, only to call the authorities and turn himself in. Does this mean he’s gonna confess to Norma’s murder? Is he going to murder Dylan? Where the hell does Sheriff Alex Romero come in to play?

Personally, I’d love to see Romero play the role of Detective Arbogast from the original movie and have an amazing face-off. However, I’m not sure how that’d be played out with everything that’s been presented to us so far.

Do you watch the show? What are your thoughts? Will you watch the movie again knowing how Norman turns out? Let me know on Twitter.
