I forgot how awesome movies shown in IMAX are… but I’ll get back to that in a moment…
Spider-Man has always been a fan favorite no matter whom you talk to, and yours truly is no different.
Peter Parker’s relatively younger self (Tom Holland) was first introduced to us in Captain America: Civil War and didn’t disappoint. He has that superhero swagger that some have sort of faked over the years while still maintaining the high-school science geek (as portrayed in the comics).
Don’t get your undies in a bunch. I have mad respect for Tobey Maguire but the movies he did were cheesy in a sort of loveable way. But Holland, coupled with a great villain in Vulture (Michael Keaton). You also get to see the second-to-last appearance in a major motion picture from Iron Man/Tony Stark (Robert Downey, Jr.) as he’s playing a bit of a mentor to Peter Parker/Spider-Man.
While this movie had everything that Marvel Studios & Sony (yeah, Sony owns the rights to Spider-Man, and not Disney) wanted it to be, part of me felt there were a handful of scenes that could’ve met the cutting room floor.
They didn’t take away from the overall awesomeness that the movie displayed.
The writing in this film was nearly perfect as the humor was balanced in a way that could be appreciated across a wide variety of people.
Also, you MUST see this movie in IMAX if given the opportunity. You get more pop and flow with your sounds in the action scenes, and the crystal-clear picture just keeps you from looking away.
I look forward to a few sequels with Tom Holland and other notable Spider-Man villains along the way. One can only hope Venom makes an appearance in the foreseeable future.
